May 2025 Meeting

Thank you to everyone that joined us for the CAUSA meeting at Contemporary at Blue Star. We had a great turnout and discussed key topics. Please see below for a recap of the meeting and supplemental material for your arts and culture advocacy efforts.

  • We’re revitalizing our social media pages. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram. Email cultureandartsunitedforsa@gmail.com with upcoming events or important news you’d like us to share.

  • CAUSA steering committee members meeting with commissioners to discuss possibilities for funding through the County for Arts & Culture

    • We have met with the San Antonio Area Foundation about acting as a fiscal agent, if we are successful with the County.

    • The ask: year long, multi-year commitment of operational support. As a baseline our ask is $7.1M of support from the County (this is what the City offers)

    • County funds are currently dispersed as one-offs to arts and culture organizations. This initiative will provide a concentrated ask for Arts & Culture in San Antonio as a whole (1 ask versus 52 if each organization that’s a member of CAUSA asks individually)

    • Note: Be cautious of County vs. City relations. When talking to commissioners it’s better to stay clear of any comparisons between the County and City offerings

    • Request: to translate important notes into talking points for CAUSA Members

  • In Progress: Letter of support to be signed by previous San Antonio Mayors

  • Jon Hinojosa has a list of the commissioners per agency, so please contact him if you’d like that list. jonchinojosa@gmail.com.

  • Budget Survey happening now for the City. Request to add in “Arts & Culture” as one of the line items of City Services. Right now participants must select “Other” and fill in “Arts & Culture”

    • The City is using this survey to determine what’s important to San Antonians. It’s important to make sure Arts & Culture is at the forefront of minds during the budgeting process. Please share!
